the hotel takes his name from the xvii century painter g.f. barbieri, who was called il guercino because of his marked squint. he contributed, with his original and self-taught painting, to the important historical-artisitc period belonging to i carracci, guido reni, domenichino, francesco albani, alessandro tiarini and to many other protagonists of classical revival of italian painting. it is not by chance that the hotel is in via luigi serra (he was a painter, too), in a quiet area, behind the railway station, whose streets recall the names of the distinguished mentioned artists.
rooms: completely renewed, the hotel offers 40 small and elegant rooms with internet wireless connection, satellite lcd tv, air conditioning and a short number of it with terrace.
restaurant: the very good restaurant divinis with special gourmet bolognese dishes: "tortellini", "tagliatelle with meat ragã¹ sauce", "lasagne", "mixed boiled beef", "preserved meat (mortadella,salame,smocked ham), large choise of cheeses, mixed fried fruits, vegetables and cream", delicious dessert like "mascarpone" and "panna cotta". closed on sunday all day. it's usually closed for holidays two weeks on august.
